Fastest Way to Write a Realistic Dialogue

People talks. That is the fact. So, a good fiction should have the dialogue. The problem is, writing realistic dialogues could be hard. Here are some tips, anyway.

Make the main character based on you. So all you have to do is think, “What would I say in this situation?”
Listen to real people conversation. There is nothing wrong with sitting in public places and listening to what and how others say. In public places, every voices belong to public.
Read the dialogue orally. Record, if it is necessary, and play it. If you feel that it is a book who’s talking (instead of people), remake it. Still not sure it is working? Call some friends, and read it out loud in front of them. Listen to their opinion about your dialogue.

Damn Movies that Made Me Cry

All movies that made me cry has obvious pattern within its story. The protagonist: fails after gave the best (Sad Movie), success after fight for somene but he himself passes away (Titanic), has ironic end even though we have fun in the beginning (Laskar Pelangi), is so enthusiastic (Pay It Forward, Patch Adam), performs fake cheerfulness (La Vita è Bella), or success after the abyss (Ayat-ayat Cinta). Did you find any other pattern? What movies that made you cry?

We can get the writer’s block, I think because we: (1) Are inconsistent (often change the idea, without even single finished story). (2) Have the others activity beyond the writing (it easily turns the goal off). (3) Pending the work too long. (4) Have a problem in confident (like feel that don’t have any talent). (5) Surrender to the underestimation by folks (people sometime doesn’t consider writer as a real job). (6) High-voltage of ego (so we become vulnerable with any sharp critic). (7) Low level of healthiness. (8) Wrong location to write (sometime it makes bad mood). (9) Personal problem (motivational things, include).

Saya pikir keputusan memutar film di kisaran Lebaran, saat orang-orang repot mudik sehingga tak ada waktu buat hal-hal remeh seperti menonton, adalah sebuah kesalahan. Tapi ternyata, sayalah yang salah. Laskar Pelangi meledak. Saya sampai harus balik kucing dua kali karena lihat antriannya yang tidak masuk akal (dibanding waktu tayangnya yang tinggal setengah jam lagi). Untung, saat datang ketiga kalinya, saya bisa dapat tiket. Itupun tinggal dua biji. Telat sedikit pasti amblas disikat orang.
